Former Stroud MP David Drew had a first-hand view of homecare when he accompanied DoCare Development Director Steve Mills on his monthly client visits.
David, who is a Stroud district councillor and Labour’s candidate for the 2015 General Election, was invited by Steve to take the opportunity to learn more about homecare.
He said: “I found the visits to be very interesting, reinforcing my view that the work of care assistants is totally undervalued and deserves much more respect than is currently usually paid. It was also an opportunity for me to understand better the issues arising in running a company such as DoCare, and I look forward to continuing to build a relationship so that I can better understand how the care industry operates, taking first-hand experience from such an outstanding organisation.”
Steve added “I really enjoy my monthly visits, as they provide an opportunity for me to meet some of our clients, to hear what’s working well and what we could do to improve things. It also gives me additional time with some of our staff, so I can gain further feedback on how things are going.”
